The concept “emotional intelligence” was
popularized by Daniel Goleman in the 1990s. In
2009, Travis Bradberry and Jean Greaves published
their book, Emotional Intelligence 2.0.
From this work, we know that emotional intelligence
is critical for leadership effectiveness. But, what if
I told you that: (1) our understanding of emotional
intelligence is not as deep as it could be, and
(2) deepening our understanding of emotional
intelligence introduces profound insights for the
future of leadership development and effectiveness?
Deepening our understanding of emotional
intelligence will help us understand and capitalize on
